The Woodsmen - a couple of MP3s I just found on my computer - very cool. I assume I found a link to these off one of the threads here at some point...can't remember. Cool sound anyway!

THE CHERRY COKE$ - 'Rouse Up' (thanks to a Japanese friend - arigato gozaimasu, Hitomi-san!).
Insane Japanese-Paddy-punk... in the vein of the Pogues and Siobhan.
They have a song called 'Hellbound Train' that has some serious speed-metal bagpipe. Awesome.
(Cheers also to T. McSod for turning me on to them).

This is The Woodsmen we're talking about - I tried Google and had no success and now have no idea what to do. That could be the curse of a new generation - we'll all become no-initiatve slobs - Google didn't give me the answer, so there must be no answer...duh And as for the Cherry Cokes - they sound awesome on their Myspace site...might have to invest. You can get their CDs off www.amazon.jp - but make sure you click on the "In English" button...well unless you can read Japanese but I had a little trouble

THE CHERRY COKE$ (Cheers also to T. McSod for turning me on to them). Glad I could help. --------------- On my end, a whole mess of the following: The Devil Makes Three The Dead Brothers (still) Johnny Hobo & the Freight Trains (Johnny Hobo is one of the singers from Shakey Bones) John Hartford (mostly Areo-plane, an' Mark Twang)

I've ordered my Cherry Coke CDs off amazon.jp. My wifes sister lives in Japan so have got them shipped there due to the postage charges being more than the CDs cost to get them shipped directly to me. Free shipping in Japan so all good. Now just waiting for my mother in law to do her annual trip over there (which luckily is in about two weeks time) and bring them back. Normally she picks me up a nice bottle of whiskey duty free, but this time it'll be Japanese-Irish-Punk CDs too. I'm a lucky boy!
But as for what I'm listening to right now, its a CD my brother loaned me: Rodrigo & Gabriela and they are doing an insane version of Stairway to Heaven with flamenco licks that are out of this world...very impressive indeed!

Afenginn - Tsar Nob Yld I'm digging this danish band. Nordic folk music mixed in with humppa, jazz, and klezmer type music. They one best world album at the danish awards in 2005 for this cd. You can listen to some songs here..... www.last.fm/music/Afenginn

Secks Pizztols - "Never Mind the Bollocks" Always a good choice there. I'm listening to the commentary for the Australia/Japan football match. I've been waking up early to watch the asian cup this year. Good game so far, still 0-0.

Fucken A! You can't listen to the Sex Peestols without having a dam fine time, it has to be said...I don't think you can play the Bollocks album too much.
I've just been watching us (New Zealand) kick some Australian arse at the only sport that matters...yes thats right a bit of ol' rugby. Just like soccer (I mean football) only they squashed the ball and you can pick it up and run with it...
Drank a bit too much mind you, and now find myself doing a bit of PWI. Did I get that right Professor Gommel? I think that was your acronym...lucky I left the 'puter on in the first place or I might not have gotten this far. Whatever, anyways, since I got home I have been listening, well watching and listening, Van Morrison live at the Jazz festival, Montreaux in 1980. Dam fine it is too, such unbelievably good musicianship. Although I have to say that Van himself looks like he couldn't give less of a fuck about the rest of the world so long as he gets his next fix and can have a wee sit down some time soon. That said though, his vocals are unbelievable. How can someone look so wasted and yet sound so good? I've always found that if I looked that wasted, I sounded even worse. Ya, whatever, nighty night all...

The sountrack to the HBO show Carnivale. S'done by Jeff Beal. If yer into 20's jazz, odd gypsy/romanian soundin' tunes, an' some good ol' hokey americana roots, give this a listen. Lotta fiddle/accordion/banjo stuff on there.
(Also, the show itself is pretty amazing. S'kickin' my arse proper-like)

I think that was your acronym...lucky I left the 'puter on in the first place or I might not have gotten this far. "PWI!" (so much easier to spell when you are it!) Good man! I think there should be a special thread for just this type of posting. Liquor makes the world a more honest place, and more interesting, too. (Although the inability to turn on my own computer has kept me from doing this as much as I would like...) Fucken A! You can't listen to the Sex Peestols without having a dam fine time, it has to be said...I don't think you can play the Bollocks album too much. Bollocks aside... Currently playing at the Toler household is Johnny Thunders' " So Alone." Featuring former Pistoleros Steve Jones and Paul Cook, some bassist by the name of Phil Lynott, and of course, the "Keef" to David Johanson's "Mick" from the New York Dolls, (a personal fave!), Johnny Thunders! Humble Pie's blooze guru Steve Mariott also lends pipes for a track. Great bluesy-punky-"guitariffy" stuff.

(And Adrienne Barbeau looks so hot, even at her age!) Is there a season 3? Ever heard of the movie " Emperor of the North Pole?" It's set back then, but in the Northwest. Hobo vs. Train-captain flick with Earnest Borgnine, Lee Marvin and Keith Carradine. Awesome movie but hard to find.

No word on a season 3, as such. I'm pretty sure it's dead at just two.
An' yeah, I've heard of that movie. Been told t'find, but as you mentioned, difficult, so no luck yet.

All great in fact. Only played them once, I may have more to say yet on this. When I first heard Flogging Molly I used to tell people they were like The Pogues on speed. On that basis, I reckon The Cherry Coke$ must be Flogging Molly on speed!

Hahah, there is definitely a bit of that! Overall the vocals are pretty strong though, they've definitely modelled their sound on the Pogues and the vocals sound to me life half Shane MacGowan, half Spider Stacey - but with a few less "L"s...heheh

LOL. Yeah it's in English, but you wouldn't know it by listening to them... or reading the lyrics!
I have been on a heavy, er, heavy music kick for some reason:
Amon Amrath - With Oden On Our Side: Melodic viking death metal.
Gallows - various songs: Abrasive yet catchy nu-hardcore. Fronted by the punk Harry Potter!

My Singing Loins CDs arrived today - its pretty darn cool stuff, I'm on to the second disc of Complete and Utter now and there are some real gems amongst it all.
I'm suffering new music overload combined with shrunken wallet syndrome - too many good recommendations from you buggars! Singing Loins and Cherry Coke$ are getting a whole lot of airplay right now and I have new Filthy Thieving Bastards material to hear to, not to mention some Swingin' Utters. All good! The Swaggering Growlers CD arrived this week too, have only played it through once but some cool tracks on that too. Have a nice weekend all...
