Sing Loud Sing Proud part deux...
Warrior's Code represents the next step in the evolution, there's that word, of Dropkick Murphys from a pure punk oriented outfit to a more refined, mature band. They've found their niche and are sticking to it.
That said, the Murphys don't totally abandon their roots not exactly Mick McColgan era but they've created a sound like previous releases and good on 'em for that. Songs such as "Your Spirit's Alive","Warrior's Code", "Take It And Run" and "The Walking Dead" are classic Dropkick Murphys while songs like "The Green Fields of France" show a nice evolution of their skills. Tunes like "The Auld Triangle" are a good mixture of new and old.
Still, a lot of their songs are reminicient of earlier offerings and that will not disappoint fans while recalling days past. All in all, the Murphys continue to deliver an energetic, enjoyable outing and it's worth the money on this latest offering too.
Their live shows are worth attending as Ken Casey and crew continue to deliver the goods and you could do a lot worse than attend a live Dropkick Murphys show. I would recommend seeing them at a club or hall rather than a venue like an outdoor festival however. The sound and energy are better and you get the chance to join them on stage at the end of the night!
In summation, "Warrior's Code" is a good Dropkick Murphys release that shouldn't disappoint fans but won't garner any new ones that don't like them already.

are brendan and dominic behan related? Yes, they are brothers. Dominic Behan wrote the song the Patriot Game. Dominic also did McAlpine's Fusiliers...

has anyone heard whether DKM will play a new song live on Conan or leno or anything yet? The last two cds they played on conan and once on the jimmy kimmel show. I was hoping they would pick a song from their latest and perform on conan again.

First heard 'Captain Kelly's Kitchen' as 'Courtin' In The Kitchen' on a Clancy Brothers LP my Old Man got in the late 'fifties when he was a little kid ... great cover of them all sitting round the pub with Tommy Makem drinking out of porcelain jars and singing (I don't think there's a photo of them where they're not singing). I reckon the Murphys take is as good as anything they've ever done, and if you're going to Murphy-ize a trad song, this is the way to do it. 'Old Triangle', though ... I've gotta be precious here and say that for me that song is sancrosanct; the ONLY true version for me is the unaccompanied one on the mid-seventies Dubliners album 'Dubliners Now', when Jim McCann was in the band. Closely followed by the one on Red Roses, 'cause after all, it is on Red Roses, and that's me favourite record and always has been.
But yeah, 'Captain Kelly's' is great, and the piping on 'WSC' is the cat's whiskers.
( And if ANYONE can find me a Murphys 'skeleton piper' t-shirt in MEDIUM I'll owe you a blood debt. Seems they only come in Wee & Big Yin ).

I just got the album, I love it. Green Fields of France and Last Letter Home made me cry. Auld Triangle and Captain Kelly's are great.

I think what they did for the guy and his family in the song "last letter home" was great. The lyrics are quite emotional and the same goes for the green fields of france, the murphys version is one of my favorite versions of that song.
