Old Crow Medicine show are excellent! Catch em live too if you can as they put on a brilliant show I just found out about this band yesterday, I was looking at some of the music on peoples lists on the last.fm website. Downloaded their debut and was blown away. I'll have to see if they have anything else and see if I can buy somewhere.

www.last.fm/you can find similar music and it will show you many artists and other listeners that have similar choice of music. very helpful, whatever you play on your computer is recorded into their database to derive a list of music.

X - Under the Big Black Sun
This is a totally awesome disc. X were a fantastic quartet in the early 80's Los Angeles "new wave" explosion. You owe it to yourself to own this one. It may be 80's vintage but its all about L.A. alternative rock. A great recording.

I'm listening to the new Tony Duggins disc which arrived in the mail today. I like it, the Ballad of Accounting and Children's Potential are great songs.
I love X, too. Exene Cervanka has some good stuff with the Original Sinners, too.

Where did you buy the T. Duggins cd from? Bought it at thickrecords.com Just looking at the track listing on Amazon...I take it that Goodnight Irene is the old traditional number? My local football team adopted that song back in the 1950's, it stuck...and it'll be interesting to hear T.Duggins version. At this very moment, I'm listening to a Dubliners live CD which I'll be taking into work tomorrow with me. I've also managed to sell the idea of Flogging Molly to my colleagues and there haven't been any complaints so far!

I haven't heard The Woods Band, what are they like? It's funny, one minute I'm here in Melbourne listening to Mr T. Woods on Pogues records, next I'm up at me mum's listening to 'House Carpenter' and the Sweeney's Men stuff, and some early Steeleye.
Yeah, anyway, I've dusted off Tom Waits's REAL GONE for the first time in a while so that's been on. Also, ANDY IRVINE, various BLUEGRASS stuff, Weddings Parties Anything ('They Were Better Live' ... try and get hold of it, one and all), They Might Be Giants, various Dubliners compilations. Oh yeah, also Tom Waits's MULE VARIATIONS, CALEXICO (esp. 'Feast Of Wire') and Australian band THE BLACKEYED SUSANS.
And also the music in my head, that I intend to bring into this dimension in the next few months.
Swillin' Will ;D

Got a lovely compilation at Goodwill yesterday, it's from 1980 and it's "Another Feast of Irish Folk". Has the Dubliners, Christy Moore, Planxty, Wolfe Tones, and a bunch of other good stuff on it.
Recieved a copy of the Pogues "Peace and Love" for my birthday, but it's not my favorite Pogues album.

Good stuff, Real Gone is a great cd by Tom Waits. was listening to that last week a bit. Day After Tomorrow is an incredible song.

Recieved a copy of the Pogues "Peace and Love" for my birthday, but it's not my favorite Pogues album. It has the wonderful 'London Your a Lady' on there....its worth it just for that song!

In my opinion, if you were to add the best of "Hell's Ditch" & "Peace And Love" together, you'd have a Pogues album on par with the first three.

^ I agree with that statement. Got my Tony Duggins cd in the mail today . It seems everyday now I get something in the mail, however it will be ending soon. I also got a mandolin tribute album to Erik Satie by the Melionous Quartet. 4 mandolin players doing covers of Erik Satie, makes for good music. I'm liking the T. Duggins disc so far, I have plenty of music for the next week to listen to.
