So what are people's reactions to this? Cap'n K. Bollocks - you mentioned yours arrived the other day as mine did too.
I have had such a busy last week I have only hardly had a chance to listen to it in bits until last night. My initial reaction was it was a bit weaker than the last 2 albums - but after the full play through last night, I wonder if it just took a bit longer to grow on me. It struck me listening right through that it was more of an album that a bunch of songs - with the whole thing making a bigger impression than any individual tracks - so no 1788 or Union Man to blow me away on first listen but an awesome album all the same.
I found the female vocals a bit spooky - not used to them in The Go Set sound! The piano accordian is used very tastefully and the songs with a big bagpipe lead are as anthemic as always...
Keen to hear what others think - definitely a progression for the band - and I'm looking forward to seeing how the live show comes together in August, especially with Mick Thomas from Weddings Parties Anything touring too.

I'll go along with pretty much all of that ! First listen it didn't grab me in the same way as the other two albums but having had it in the car for the last week I love it ! It is definitely a more "complete" package of work rather than individual songs I think although that's not to say there aren't some real stompers on there, Welcome To The World for example.
Definitely shows a band maturing and growing - go buy it !

I love the album at first it also took me a couple listens to get a good idea of what the album was like. The Rising Tide is a cracker of a tune.
