Does anyone know the significance of "77" that the DKM's used to use on their old flaming skull logo ? I'm guessing it's todo with 1977 ... but the reason ? Cheers

It does stand for 1977. That was the year I was born, and they wanted to show how much they love me. Just kidding. It does stand for 1977, but I'm pretty sure it's for the big year for punk rock rather than the big year for me.

That was my feeling ... 77 being punk year zero etc. Seen variations on it with other wording too

That was my feeling ... 77 being punk year zero etc. Seen variations on it with other wording too I don't know... I mean, the Ramones were formed in '74 and had their first release, "The Ramones" in '76. The Dictators formed in '74 and released "Go Girl Crazy" in '75. The Clash and The D@mned formed in '76 (although their debut releases were in '77, as was "Never mind the Bollocks...".) Maybe, but I think there might be too much opinion for it to be a year thing. Other possibilities: Hell's Angels have a winged skull logo with the number 81 (for H.A.) Maybe DKM used the same idea, (although I don't know what significance G.G. could be.) On the album "Do or Die," the band thanks "Blanks 77," a NYC punk band with a song called "Do or Die!" Coincidence? Then again, I could be full of shit. That's always a possibility...

yeah, there were quite a few punk bands around before 77 but everyone allways says it was 77. probably cause thats when the sex pistols and clash got big. Im so sick of everyone saying that the ramones, clash and sex pistols started fucking punk rock. they were just the ones that got all rockstar and famous.

Probably not.

As I was typing I knew I spelled it wrong. It was Allin not Allen. I dunno who here subscribes to Netflix but they carry his documentary, "hated," as well as some live concerts. I can't call myself a "fan" (who could?) but the documentary is something to behold.
