but that was the lowest of the low. I kinda dig Rain Street and a few others though.

Rain Street's a great song. I'm not too keen on how it sounds arrangement and production wise though. It never really sounded better live either, from what I've heard. Five Green Queens and Jean is in the same category.
I'm not even going to touch Rainbow Man...

I liked Hell's Ditch, okay only half. If you put together the good half of Hell's Ditch with the good half of Peace & Love, it'd be a darn good album...

I'm disagreeing with you guys. HD is a great album, it's just totally different. Shane and the boys were getting into more influences (as much as shane bitches about it now, at the time he was very excited about doing the pogues thing with other folk traditions).
Sometimes, it works... Lorca's Novena, Hell's Ditch and Wake Of The Medusa. Sometimes, it is truly awful... as evidenced by Rainbow Man and the worst Pogues song of all time, Six To Go. I love ya Terry, but YEEESH.
Anyway, think of HD as a mood album. It's a great album to play in the summertime, stretching out on the lawn, kickin' back 9 or 10 gin and tonics and staring at your 17 year-old neighbour gardening in the next yard. Mmmmm. Stacey.

Yeah, Ol' Jimmy's got a point. HD is a decent album, really, it's just not the best Pogues album.
But Summer in Siam blows goats.

I guess it all depends on your perspective.. When I hear the Pogues I want what you would expect.. Irish music... with preferably Shane singing... Young Ned / Gartloney Rats are brilliant granted but hey I just could not get passed what I loved about them. and Rain Street i always thought was only good because the rest of the album was lame.. if it was on Grace, or Rum... it would come across as barely average.

what! you blow. rain street is one of my favorite songs. but you're right. the pogues just don't seem like the pogues unless shane is singing and there is at least a little irishness in the music.

I like Spider singing every once in a while. I wish Shane sang on Young Ned Of The Hill instead of Terry.

I actually wished they'd used Spider's singing a little more often after Terry joined the band. I like Terry and all, but you start to miss Spider's voice. He did a great job playing with The Tossers over St Pat's this year, even if he was the most sober person in the room.

Having spoken to a few insiders myself, I wouldn't count on this nessecarily happening. Joey Cashman (may devils eat his balls in hell) demands a 50% cut for MacGowan whenever the Pogues have a reunion. Do the math... that's 8.5% for each of the remaining pogues.
The last reunion tour had this deal, and it reportedly pissed off quite a few pogues in a big way. Even if they were filling 3000 seat halls, Woods and Chevy were making pub-gig cash. Pretty f u c king ridiculous.

wow, that's gay. you do have to admit that macgowan being there can get the people who put on the show a lot more money, but it's still retarded.

rain street kicked ass. and lorca's novena was fucking incredible. enough to make hells ditch a mediocre album, by pogues standards.
fuck summer in siam.
