Ahoy There!
Just wondering if there have been any bands that combine medieval music and themes with their punk rock?
Tenpole Tudor springs to mind, but I think that was more a novelty act.
I seem to recall a German band from the '90s that was on a huge medieval trip, but I think that band came from a metal background.
Let me know if you can help!

Some of Attila the Stockbroker's stuff has that kinda sound, like 'The March of the Levellers'.

Yeah.. You've pretty much got like.. 3 choices if yer lookin' fer somethin' like this. Yer gonna have yer.. kinda poncey fluffy renaissance-fair poofs.... yer metal guys, an' yer novelty acts. The latter of which also usually applies to the former two. That bein' said though.. the couple of suggestions I have are as follows. Lil' too... thrash/crust/metal for my taste, but: Windir www.myspace.com/windirfantributeAn'.. what I think is closer to what yer lookin' for.. an'.. really good, now that I've had reason to look 'em up an think about 'em again (Got two albumns of theirs) Troll Bends fir www.youtube.com/watch?v=LCPSuqu4gvEwww.myspace.com/trollbendsfir

how about these...THE FOUR SONS OF HENRY V www.myspace.com/thefoursonsofkinghenryv the singer barry barnoff was the first mate i made when i moved to london in 1990.met him on a anti fascist action march and spent all day with him until hours later he mentioned his band and i had their album!they were on the Words Of Warning label with the blaggers,oi polloi and terminus.their lp is extremely hard to get hold of now i'd say but according to their myspace they have giged recently.they wipe the floor with barnstormer i'd say.

Thanks donnymark - that band sounds great! I will investigate.
Hey, speaking of the Blaggers and Oi Polloi - I saw them play a gig together on my only trip to Glasgow, way back in 1991. I thought Oi Polloi was pretty damn good, until the Blaggers took the stage. The Blaggers remain one of the most incredible bands I have ever seen! So angry and confrontational, yet so danceable at the same time.
Thanks too to Tom for your suggestions. I have been listening to a fair bit of Cruachan, Skyclad, Alestorm and such lately, so Windir will probably seem OK to these ears!
