I just got all 3 Greenland Whalefishers' cds: Mainstreet Sword, Loboville, and Streets of Salvation. They are all great, and exceeded my expectations, big-time.
If you have heard their songs, and like them, definitely invest in these cds. If you have not heard them, go download mp3's at their website (www.g-w-f.com). Once again, if you like them, definitely hook up the cds. You can order them through their website.
I hope I corrupt enough people to spark enough demand for a US east coast tour. Cheers

I've ordered several times from GWF with no problems and that was with sending them cash hidden in an envelope. Just email them with the CD's you want and wait for them to get back with availability and price. Took about a week to get the CDs (in NJ) after they confirmed the order. If you're going to order, get the ep's too. The ep's usually have 2 songs from the CD and 2 new songs and once they're gone, they're gone.

I only own Loboville and Streets of Salvation but love them both. (I prefer Salvation, too!)
I would see them in an instant if they did an East Coast Tour. Keep up the Crusade!!!

No reviews or comments on the new Greenland Whalefishers? Is everyone just slow in getting it or disappointed in it? I thought the band was really clicking on this one. To me it was their best yet. What's not to like about upbeat Irish melodies with lots of tin whistle, coupled with lyrics about outcasts, suicide and murder? The perfect CD for manics AND depressives.
On the 2nd November. In the year of 1983 Jo waved us goodbye, disappeared through the sky He left by a rope and a tree
Great stuff!

slow. should be something up in a couple of weeks (Blackstuff it's on the way - no pressure)
Personally I still think loboville is their best but I know lots of people who think that of main street and I'm sure there are many that will be arguing for 'down and out'
also there is the off chance of some US show this coming summer

Here ya go Paddy! Both of ya... Greenland Whalefishers - Down & Out With "Down and Out", the latest offering from Norway's Greenland Whalefishers, GWF maintain the "KISS", Keep It Simple Stupid, philosophy and while there's nothing earth-shattering with what they do, there doesn't have to be as they do quite well with what they have. The band, made up of Arvid Grov, vocals, occasional guitar and songwriter, Gunnar "Two Sheds" Grov, mandolin, banjo and bouzouki, Trond Olsen, guitar, Terje Schumann Olsen, bass, Agnes Skollevoll, tin-whistle, Odin Døssland and Kristian Malmo, fiddle and Ørjan Eikeland Risan on drums have a good one here and are definately far from "Down & Out". All the offerings on this release are very nicely done, melodic and well balanced. The signature of this band are the vocals of Arvid Grov. His raspy vocals are a perfect front to the tracks and are a recognizable trademark of the band. Agnes Skollevoll's whistle is a great accompanyment as well and added in the right doses. The rest of the outfit rounds out the sound very nicely. There are some great songs on this CD. Highlight tracks are "Hit The Ground", "The Rocky Roads Of London", "Punk Shanty" and my personal favorite, "Brody". There's also a nice instrumental in "City of Angels". If you're a fan of the Whalefishers or are for looking something to start your GWF collection, this is a good one to get. You'll be rewarded with almost 40 minutes of good times! I agree BlackStuff. I'm glad they stuck with what they do best. I also liked Molly's Lullaby, although it took a few listens to appreciate Katy's vocals. I initially thought her voice was a bit weak to keep up with Arvid, but quickly grew to like the softness (if that's the right word) of it. I also thought that this was one case where their single completes the CD and was a must have. I burned a CD with the songs from Hit The Ground followed by Down And Out and it makes Down and Out even better. Here's hoping they make it to the US soon.
