I'll probably do either Exeter or Oxford, with them being the closest.
Though I am tempted with a trip to the capital...
Anybody know the support?

Pray that the support isn't The Riverboat Gamblers or Hot Water Music. I just drove +300 miles to visit friends and see FM near Phoenix, Arizona. Those 2 bands were the openers and Jaheseus Kriste they sucked. Yeah I coulda seen FM in L.A. or San Diego which would have been 3 hours closer but I chose to see them in the effing desert amongst friends. And it was great to see Dave ridicule Bush in AZ. That is a conservative, backwards, effed up state so it was funny to see people booing Dave when he made fun of the stupid president they voted for.

ive not seen em live, but from the stuff ive heard of hot water music then yeh they are pretty poor. hopefully for the london show theyll get neck as support as they did last time they played mean fiddler few years back. at least i think it was mean fiddler..its all quite hazy! ;D

Personally, I'd prefer a couple of paddy punk bands on the bill, like when Blood or Whiskey supported the Dropkick Murphys in Portsmouth as I feel as though I don't see enough of that genre where I live. Yeah there are more punk gigs than you can shake a stick at which is great, just not enough of the paddy variety.

Yeah I've often wondered why FM doesn't take Irish bands on the road. Is it because they are from L.A. and there aren't that many Irish bands around here? I dunno but I've seen them 4 or 5 times now in L.A. and San Diego and the openers never fail to make me leave the hall and go to the bar. They are always boring ass punk bands that sound like any other boring ass punk band. The Riverboat Gamblers are by far the worst though. They sound like a 16 year old garage band. Just awful.

When the DKM's toured last March, I can't grumble at Roger Miret and the Disasters supporting, though Frenzal Rhomb were utter bollocks - avoid at all costs...
And I can't really grumble at the Street Dogs or The Briggs either as I really rate both bands...
However, as I said, I feel as though I don't see enough paddy stuff live.

i dunno how true it is but i heard than FM's management dont want them playing with any other irish sounding bands as it would take the spotlight away from the band which i think is utter bollocks!

Neck got dumped from a dutch show by the promoter 'cos he was told FM would not play with any Irish sounding bands. Susequently Dave found out about Neck being giving the shaft and Neck played Dublin & London - but yeah the manager has an issue.

thats some fucked up shit. but it is true that if other irish punk bands toured with flogging molly a huge amount of people would realize that FM aint the only band in this genre (as so many idiots think) and that a lot of those other bands are better than them. Which would be good for the scene in general i think but bad for fm's cash. and we all know that money is the most important thing in the world. fuck managers.

wait, the tossers opened for flogging molly a while back.... heh heh heh. I've often thought about what a cool show that would be. Too bad I've missed it. It will probably never come again. (sigh)

that would be disappointing. pay 25 bucks to watch the tossers for 40 minutes, listen to people talk about how they ripped off flogging molly or are flogging molly wannabes and shit like that, then sit through an hour and a half of the amazingly origiinal flogging molly while emo kids jump and scream and weird hairy people get sweat on me.

haha too right goodbar. not that i was at the tossers show...but it seems theres shit loads of emo kids coming to molly shows who think the band are the most original thing on earth. how very misguided! personally i prefer the tossers to molly anyway. oh and F**K THE CROWDSURFERS! annoying little shites.

Point well taken goodbar. It's possible to have co-headlining tours but let's face it-The Tossers don't have the drawing power that FM has. It's unfortunate. And for god's sake do they ever tour? In So. Cal? Or even AZ? It seems Illinois is their only touring area. But I should bring that up on The Tossers board. And yes, "Fuck crowd surfers." I'm a bit tall so I'm always taking feet and other body parts to the back of the head. It's not fun to be seeing stars or biting your tongue or, worst of all, spilling your beer. When people ask me to toss em I say no.

haha. crowd surfing was cool for the first few shows i went to until i realized when other people do it it pisses me off. now i only don't mind when the kids doing it are like, 12, or really short.
i especially hate chicks though...and guys that wear baggy pants and do nothing but crowd surf the entire time. fucking sleepers.
but yeah, 90% of the people who are into this genre know the tossers rock the world to the floor and flogging molly gives them rim jobs.

I don't mind the surfers. I did it when I was a bit younger, (& lighter) I agree, it does suck being a tall guy in a crowd. Getting a foot to the ear or nose is always the worst. Talk about old guys on stage, I busted out a stage dive at the last Flogging Molly concert... The main reason I did it was to boot this deserving jackass in the head on my way down! He was obviously in the pit only to hurt people. (Jock-o-Rama) So I decided to return the favor! I'm pretty sure I nailed him and hauled ass back to the bar! "Dam it feels good ta be a gangsta!"

I don't have any major objections to surfers as I usually stand either to the left or right of centre down the front where it's not quite so boisterous - you do get the odd one or two but nowhere near as bad smack bang in the middle.
One thing that pissed me off at the FM show in Nottingham was some guy protecting his girlfriend down at the front hurting others (including me) in the process - the way I look upon it, if you're girlfriend's that delicate then she shouldn't be in the f**king pit!!! Of course, I were in a mischevous mood that night and ended up jumping up and down even more just to wind 'em up...
Folk who are careless with cigs and glass/glass bottles in the pit wind me up more though...

Right, the tour is only a week away - I'm heading to the Birmingham show on the 29th.
Looks like The Dead Pets and The Briefs are the support acts during the whole UK tour...can't grumble at that!
