Someone in the Washington Post really hates Flogging Molly: "Riverdance with a bad attitude", "sounds like Popeye gargling" etc. This in contrast to Shane MacGowan who "could actually sing when he had to. yea they just played a few days ago in DC so maybe it was a bad show i couldnt go i had school and work

Well, I would say that this guy's credibility is severely hampered by his assertion that Shane used to be able to sing. Shane, even in his youthful heyday, couldn't hit a reliable note if he tried. What he had was growling passion, something which it might be fair to say Dave King does not have.
But "good" singers? When the feck did this become a requirement for celt punk?

I agree with ya, Goodbar. Shane and Tom Waits rescued singing from the hordes of f ucking pop divas of the 70s and 80s.

I dunno. I think shane was one hell of a singer. stuff like a pair of brown eyes and dirty old town is feckin beautifull. (as well as most everything else)
