I'm moving to Galway in the summer for University and am hoping to get a celtic punk band going in a Dropkick Murphys /Flogging Molly vein. I can play either guitar or bass and know a bit of accordion but it's a work in progress so hopefully someone else could play that instead. my influences are: Dropkicks,Flogging Molly,The tossers, the dubliners, the pogues, swaggering growlers etc etc.
If anyone in western ireland is interested in jamming to see what happens then yeah.
Thanks for your time.

Thanks mate, yeah, I only know of a single Celtic Punk group in Ireland, all the rest come out of the diaspora. Though theres a Dutch band called Finnegan's Lads who play celtic punk now, they like the music. Diaspora seem a lot more inclined to form bands etc but people in Ireland don't. I've relatives in Ireland and it works like this: They live in Buffenon and band together in local events against neighbouring regions, all regions will band together as Ballina against other towns who will band together as Mayo against other counties and will band together as connaught against other provinces who will band together as Ireland against other countries. Living abroad they only consider themselves Irish, sadly my school is mostly Plastic Paddys who come out to be Irish on St Patricks day as they have an Irish great grandma or something. Very few real Irish who have any sense of cultural identity.
