From what i've read they no longer exist, there was a review up on shite'n'onions a while ago, i had downloaded eight songs from them a long time ago when they were available on their site, its no longer up anymore though. Just decided to listen to this demo again and I love it, unfortunately they no longer exist. Here is what the review said.....
When I heard that The Whole Sick Crew was a pirate band from St. Louis, I honestly wasn't expecting too much. Call it geographical prejudice, but I figured if St. Louis was hundreds of miles from the ocean, it would most certainly be too far away to live if you're a Salty Dog right? How on earth could a landlocked pirate band possibly be any good with out salthingyer in the air??
Well, I was wrong about the whole "landlocked pirate" thing, because I was very impressed when I played this album for the first time. According to the band bio, The Whole Sick Crew plays all-acoustic, anachronistic folk-punk sea songs, jigs, and original pirate ballads. Not storybook pirates, mind you, but songs that are as caustic and ugly as the band members themselves. It's a perfect description if you ask me. This isn't a festival costume pirate band at all! In this reviewers opinion, it's: Grade A 100% Nautical-Pirate-Punk. An interesting thing to point out is it's also acoustic, and the lyrics do an excellent job of telling the tales of all forms of pirate life, including disease, executions, evil scallywags, and port sleepers. The vocals somewhat remind me of The Ruffians.
Formed in June 2002, they haven't exactly sailed the seven seas yet, but with the material they've made so far, i'll have to keep a eye on these guys! Argghhh!
The songs include:
1. Honest Sailor 2. Crimes At Sea 3. The Effigy Song 4. O'Keene The Mean 5. Girl At Every Port 6. The SLow Song 7. Captain Samson's Song 8. The Vomits

Bored this week so I've been torturing a couple of telemarketers with "The Slow Song" by Whole Sick Crew, launching the mp3 at low volume into the phone until they hang up. Working a lot better than just not answering or answering and hanging up. I actually like the song, but my wife HATES it. Apparently so do the telemarketers. They were calling 4-5 times a day. One has stopped completely and the other dummy still tries about once every other day. If anyone still needs their mp3s, check out www.johnnyrockandroll.com/mexicancity/WholeSickCrew/A shame they broke up. If anyone comes across the lyrics, let me know.

Used to have a few pages printed out, o' their lyrics. I'll take a look around for 'em, but I promise nothin'. Think it had 'bout 5 songs worth o' 'em.

Rum, I saw your post, so it was there. Then the message board went down for a day or so & some posts disappeared. Captain Samson is indeed a classic.

No luck on findin' those lyrics. Think there's a good chance I left 'em in Texas. If so, there's 'bout no way I'm gettin' m'hands on 'em again. Sorry, boy-o.
G'luck, otherwise, though.

"The Vomits" by The Whole Sick Crew
The Spainard called it the vomits and a scrutinous mate was he
For our scuppers are running black blie into the sea
When the 1st man came down with the vomits like a whale with a spout blowing black
The ship's surgeon he cried yellow fever, for God's sake stay back
The Queen she paid a fortune for us in stolen yellow gold
Now Her crew so dearly bought is rottingin the hold
They burned and they've now grown cold
When we sailed our cannon didvomit and they burned with a fever so red That the Spanish the French and the Dutch ships were sunken or fled
Before we came down with the vomits a fever went all to our brains
'Till the yellow of gold in the sunlight was all that remained very limply on our final prize
The deck was awash in stale vomit were the bodies stacked high
But the glimmer of one yellow doubloon tore at my eye

Honest Sailor When I was a young man I lived at an alehouse and tugged at the tops all alone, My parents were buried, my uncle he carried the weight of my life like a stone. One morning I woke up, said "fuck all!" to this life, took off with a pint and my coat, went down to the shipyard, bought Uncle a postcard, and started my life on a boat
I was to be (he was to be) an honest sailor to drink on the land and work on the sea and to keep my nose clean was a good life for me.
The man who swabbed decks pushed around holy stones, 'Round his neck was a collar of white, his black eyes would burn while his crooked tongue turned out the stories of Christ in the night. He told us of hell and the way that we'd burn and it seemed that he looked right at me, He spoke of salvation, and we dumped out our rations of grog in the emerald sea.
It was one of those nights where the wind weren't quite right and the rain fell like thick drops of blood, And I'd not be surprised if the world up and died and it buried itself in the mud. The man who swabbed decks gave a strangle of fear with his finger stretched out to the East, where a black freighter loomed like the burden of doom On the back of a terrible beast.
The ship pulled up broadsides and vomited death and the cannons sang sea robbery, they cut down our crew until there were only two, just the deck washing preacher and me. They gave us a choice at the tip of a sword and the preacher chose heaven and death, I must have chosen hell 'cause I told them, "Oh well, I'll be with you until my last breath."

Hmmm. I am from St. Louis and was acquainted with several of these dudes. A lot of them went to high school with a couple of my old friends. Another close friend of mine was in this band for a little while as well. Eventually some of the dudes went off to other parts of the country to do other stuff, so they broke up. BUT! Another St. Louis band called The Baysayboos broke up around the same time, and so some of the members from The Baysayboos and The Whole Sick Crew started a new superband called Rats & People. I don't know that they're as piratey, but check 'em out! By the way, if you contact the webmaster of www.rocknrollbacteria.com you might be able to get a DVD that has a performance by the Whole Sick Crew among other programs in a public-access skit show that played in St. Louis around 2002 and 2003. Actually! You can watch that very same video on YouTube: www.youtube.com/watch?v=cQrbUlQx7K0Also, those 8 tracks you downloaded make up their self titled album... The front cover of it (in case you like using cover art in iTunes) is here: www.rocknrollbacteria.com/images/sinopoleshow/mss07.jpg

I seriously love these guys, and found their website a while back. I realise I'm resurrecting a dead thread here, but these guys deserve it. And let's face it, who doesn't love a zombie pirate? Amirite? The Whole Sick Crew album is currently hosted there, at www.theratsandpeople.com/ as is the Baysaboos album, by umm... The Baysaboos. Yep. enjoy

while they were great, and their music still lives on (fav tune is "The Vomits") i think this whole thread kinda happened already.
Still nice to talk about "the good 'ol days" as it were. I remember hearing something on the forum about the banjo player having a new band...?

Yep. Tha' was my finding. Although as far as I remember, the banjo player came to the WsC late in the game. He's in a 4-piece bluegrass outfit, called the Monads, now. An' he still jumps like a fuckin' madman every *second* he's onstage. Brilliant. Jus' sayin'. www.youtube.com/watch?v=zlIWeGr-MjM&feature=related
