what do you think about festival type shows where each band gets about 30 minutes per set? i'm mainly griping on warped tour and the dropkicks. i wouldn't go and spend upwards of $50 just to see one band play for a half an hour; all the while reeking of hippie sweat and monkey sex. it's rediculous.
that's why i think i'll never see a decent dropkick murpys show. (unless i move to boston; which ain't happenin', either.) i know i'm not the only one who'd want them to tour as the only headliner. it's totally win-win. you're surrounded by actual fans, you get to hear a two hour set, and it'd be reasonably priced ($20 or less) so you have more money to spend on the merch.

Won't catch me paying that much to see 1 band that I like playing a half hour set.

In Buffalo there is a whole shitload of bands doing an anti-warped tour show at a skate park for like 5 buck.

With a festival that has a lot of semi-unknown bands, 30 minutes is about right. Any longer than that and the crowd is going to get bored if they don't know the band. Of course one thing Warped doesn't seem to do (IME), which most other festivals do, is give the headliners and better known bands longer sets. This would make sense for DKM and the following they have, while still giving the lesser known bands the exposure of the festival stage.

I dont mind all that much. Was at Reading fest last year and DKM and FM were both playing. Despite a 30-45 min set it still makes the rest of the fest seem a hell of a lot better.

I'm heading up to the Leeds festival this year and I'm going to feel cheated by a short DKM set - give or take a handful of bands they're the only band I really want to see. There's a large number of bands I feel neither way about and some awful shite as well. Still it'll be my first proper "big" outdoor festival, bigger than Wasted and I'm sure it's the atmosphere at the end of the day. I would never do Glastonbury now despite it being only 30-odd miles from where I live, I feel it's become a victim of it's own success - I'm sure it would have been great years ago. Though if I did I'd probably end up driving back home every night as I'm not built for camping! ;D I'd love to do the US Wasted Festival in October but sadly I cannot get the time off work. And I see Flogging Molly have confirmed to play this show as well...
