Been thinking about trying to nominate a list of all time top 10 Paddy Punk albums but couldn't discount enough of them to do it - however just had a brainwave: use the iTunes most played counts to do it for me....so here ya go - the objective measure of what I listen to the most:
1) The Pogues - Rum, Sodomy and the Lash 2) Siobhan - Welfare State 3) The Peelers - Liquordale 4) The Pogues - If I Should Fall From Grace with God 5) The Go Set - The Hungry Mile 6) Flogging Molly - Swagger 7) The Killigans - Brown Bottle Hymnal 8) Flogging Molly - Drunken Lullabies 9) The Real MacKenzies - Clash of the Tartans 10th equal) The Mahones - Draggin the Days, The Popes - Holloway Boulevard
Thoughts? Whats ya top 10?
Choice, A.

Should point out I've had this computer about 6 months - so thats 6-months worth of listening...and all those albums have been round much longer than that, so no favouritism on that count...

YOU BASTARD!
Ten? The stress. The sacrifice. The time!
This is tough, so I'm going to use that time-honored loophole to cheat a couple extras in - the "tied for *th place."
That said, in
1. The Tossers-Valley of the Shadow of Death 2. Neck-Sod 'Em & Begorrah 3. Pogues-Rum, Sodomy & the Lash 4. Blood or Whiskey-Self-Titled Debut 5. (Tie #1) Dropkick Murphys-Blackout/Flogging Molly-Drunken Lullabies 6. (Tie #2) Greenland Whalefishers-Loboville & Greenland Whalefishers-Streets of Salvation 7. Scott M.X. Turner& The Devil's Advocates/The United 32s-Snipers in Derelict Houses 8. (Tie #3) Dolomites-Lovely Day For a Hogshead of Whiskey & Siobhan-Welfare State 9. The Skels-The Book of Skels 10. (Tie #4) Saint Bushmill's Choir-Saint Bushmill's Choir & Fathom-Pollution Blues
I had to keep reminding myself that I wasn't really choosing which ones I could keep, nobody was gonna take them away. (I get freaky about my CDs. I won't loan them out, I burn a copy and give it away instead. Issues.)
Here's is my list, revision number... Lost count.

Well done team! Very good response...
To the Prof - you took the words right out of my mouth. Its a funny thing...as I read everyone's lists I kept wanting to justify why album X wasn't on my list. Maybe I need to play it more....just in case it stops working because it wasn't one of my "special" ones...my precious! Especially as heaps of them are hard to find these days.
I know I made up the rules about 10, but there's a couple that haven't been mentioned by anyone and that I haven't listened to for ages which probably warrant an honourable mention:
Tears for Beers Live. This album is absolutely magic, I found it in the car this morning in fact and listened to half of it on the way to work. Do you guys know this German band? They are most excellent.
5 Hand Reel - For A' That. A true pioneering band (starring D*ck Gaughan for anyone who's into their Scottish folk). These guys played Paddy Punk in the 70s...before The Pogues even. They got boo-ed off the stage at folk festivals when they pulled out the amps and cranked the distortion, and instead found their home in punk rock halls. I tell ya - it was always meant to be...
Anyway...I'm blabbing but I was very impressed with everyone's lists - the odd one I didn't know, but mostly I agree whole-heartedly. One problem though - everyone has raved about Blood or Whiskey's debut album. I have their others, but I've never managed to lay my hands on the original, and I'd heard it was good. Now I'm sure it is!!!
So here's my offer - I'll trade someone Blood or Whiskey's debut on MP3 for some of my ones that are unavailable any more. This way none of these fine bands are missing out on any money - otherwise they would have re-printed the albums in the first place so I could order them and pay for them!
I've got some deleted albums by 5 Hand Reel, Tears for Beers, Siobhan, The Electrics, The Mahones, to name but a few. I think most of my others are available over the web by some means or another...
PM me anyway...
Cheers Alex.

The best ever version of King of the Fairies tho is Tears for Beers - absolutely primo. And I think I spotted it at the end of one of the tracks on the new Biblecode Sundays album too...
Not to take away from Horslips tho, one of the pioneers of the power reel for sure! Wthout bands like this doing their thing, how would Flogging Molly have ever grown the balls to put that dirty, rotten, kick-arse rhythm section into the Kesh Jig to create Salty Dog? Yah!

Hmm in no particular order:
The Pogues - ...Grace With God The Peelers - Liquordale Wages of Sin - Custom of the Sea Siobhan - Welfare State Singing Loins - Songs to Hear Before You Die The Skels - Any Port In a Storm Neck - Sod em & Begorrah Shane & Popes - Crock of Gold Greenland Whalefishers - Loboville Roaring Jack - ? (cant remember the name)
I love what i've heard of Nyah Faerties (however its spelt) but seeing as i cant find any of their stuff on CD then i cant add that. If anyone has an album they fancy sharing then i'm sure a swap could be arranged!
