Ahoy all !!! ;D
Fuck me, been a while since I've been here. Everything seems to be on MySpace these days. I feel like I've returned to the Hallowed Halls of an Assassins' Guild, a dark and exclusive Brotherhood (and Sisterhood) indeed !!! Missed youse all.
Well, FIRST OF ALL, like I say, with the world living in MySpace, I'm to be found at:
www.myspace.com/ceilidh_willie
Still, you can't pull off what these forums do on the ol' 'Space, I'm surprised they haven't tweaked it thus.
Now ... if anyone wants any good oil on the music coming out of this country, talk to me 'cause after all I've got insider information left right and centre, doing my bit to unite the clans and keep the Rebel Alliance going strong and all.
I recommend EVERYONE check out the following:
JACK FLASH. They're from Queensland, the tropics, as it were. GREAT LADS. Played with them a few times up there and in Sydney.
THE O'HOOLIGANS. Good mates indeed. Now, their bold Irish Captain Curly O'Hooligan and myself are going to start a mean and ruthless crew of our own. On account of me leaving ...
CATGUT MARY. I had my very real reasons. Ah ... let's just say 'rock and roll' and leave it at that. Catgut have recorded an album called 'Bourbon and Black Porter', the title track. Twelve songs, nine of them mine, one by the Admiral Warren Fraser and two trads. It is coming out through BANJAXED RECORDS in the Midwest of the U.S.A. It is being mastered in Amerikay now, as far as I know. Catgut Mary have a fiddle player now, my daring damsel mate Kat Chishkovsky from ...
THE HORNSWAGGLERS. The Saints of folk rock. I recommend you check them out, too. Very raw and ragged, great showman for a singer.
THE CURRENCY. I see some of you are onto them. I'm sure they won't mind me saying that the debut album will be out soon. VERY Australian subject matter. And the nicest people you will EVER find in music.
THE GO SET. Keeno will keep you posted. That man is a writing powerhouse.
MYSTERY BAND X. That'll be me and Curly. Look out for what I'm thinking might be 'the brine-sparkling, redemptive, Tom Waits-observant, flatknacker, accordion-up-to--eleven, Appalachian-souled R.E.M. of Colonial Celtic Punk Rock'.
So, ALL AND SUNDRY, please do stay in touch, yeah?! MySpace and all, and I'll be back here.
Trust yez all had a mighty Hogmanay.
