I woke early this morning, turned on the tube and bam! I was struck with the closing instrumental of The Pub by the Tossers are NBC's The Today Show!?
Katie Couric said it was one of her favorite songs and she loved it or something to the effect. What the fuck?!
Oh well, nice to see a tried and true Irish band being displayed on public rather than some sappy shit like the Corrs or Enya or Bono or something.

Great Big Sea was on the Imus show on MSNBC this morn. Saw them do The Night Pat Murphy Died. I've heard OF them, but never really heard them before. Sounded ok, but I think of them in the Waterboy, Sawdoctor style of Irish music, more a light rock than punk. Am I wrong about them?

Someone should give the Great Big Sea some concrete boots and throw them into the great big sea.

I agree. Great Big Sea can suck Goodbar's scrotum.
You are not wrong. They are a fairly bland, middle-of-the-road, milquetoast type of celtic band in the vein of Goats Don't Shave, Saw Doctors, or Tansads. Think Hootie and the Blowfish with a fiddle. Safe, marketable, risk-free.
