Yeah i was listening to the cd Nobody's Hero by Stiff Little Fingers a few days ago. My friends when they hear it are always asking what the hell is this? I tell them and they have a blank look so i tell them its punk. You do know what punk is right? well anyway i am currently listening to.... Llan de Cubel - Muñeira de lliberdón-Marcha del tan good galician celtic music

Llan de Cubel is fantastic. I have their "Na Llende" CD and I love it.
Some other good Galician and/or Asturian bands are: Milladoiro - Like the Chieftains of Galicia Brenga Astur - Asturian equivalent with some rock influences. Llangres - One of my favorites! "Stura" rocks! Flute, mandolin, fiddle, Asturian Bagpipes,Harp, guitar and Bodhran. This is some of the best traditional celtic stuff outside Ireland.
Good to hear someone else is in on this stuff!

Ditto here.
Well worth the effort of finding is a band called Mactullagh Vannin - Twisted Roots. It is a trad band from the Isle of Mann. Banjo, guitar, fiddle, bodhran, low whistle, and Manx Gaelic. They are the balls.

Rovers are great. I've read you mentioning Gaelic Storm a few times. My brother gave a CD of theirs a few years ago, but I've never actually listened to it. I think I wrote them off as trendy or cashing in, (Weren't they the dance band from the movie Titanic?) or something. I may have to dig it out, dust it off and give it another chance.
If you are looking to explore some other non-Irish, traditional Celtic stuff, check out 'KORNOG', from Brittany. Christian LeMaitre on fiddle, (from Celtic Fiddle Fest 1 & 2), Jamie McMenemy on vocals, Bouzouki and mandolin, Jean-Michel Veillon on flute, low whistle, and bombarde, and the fantastic Soig Siberil on guitar, later replaced by Nicholas Quemener. Think of a French PATRICK STREET with some Scottish influences.

Never saw that movie, so that holds no influence for me, except it must have been a sweet, contract-making gig for them! Imagine getting booked to do a spot on a flik and it becomes one of the biggest money-makers of all time!!! Soundtrack sales must've made 'em a mint!

Johnny Cash - Unchained Shite'n'Onions - Live365 broadcast - new playlist Am digging the new playlist. Johnny Cash!!! I even liked the Mike Ness song. To me Social D hasn't done anything interesting for awhile but I liked the song I just heard. Today I've been listening to "The Snake" by Shane, "Clandestino" by Manu Chao, and "Daylight/Nightlight" by Aesop Rock. And right now? Shite n' onions Live 365.

At the moment, I'm listening to Big Bad Bollocks by Big Bad Bollocks on Shite n' Onions radio...I've now got a computer that plays sound properly so I think I'll be on that station all the time!
CD-wise I can't seem to get enough of Excess Betrayal and our Dearly Departed by The Generators, saw them in London the other week - they were superb!
Also I've been listening to Cashed Out On Culture tons...
And Smash by The Offspring as I haven't heard it for ages...

I saw the Big Bad Bollocks at the Harp00n Brewery St. Patrick's Day Celebration in Boston a coupla years back! Great show! Really tight on stage, (although they did stop in the meiddle of a song to order a round of drinks when a waitress walked by...)
I've got both "Where the Beef meets the Sea" and the awesome "Night on the Tiles" (with guest fiddler Johnny Cunnigham.)
Too bad there has been nothing new from them.

Are BBB still going? I haven't seen them around for a few years - last time was Bills Bar with Flogging Molly 4 years ago.

Are BBB still going? I haven't seen them around for a few years - last time was Bills Bar with Flogging Molly 4 years ago. I don't think so. But, they may have just gone on hiatus. Johnny Allen wrote a book of short stories, I know, (actually, I hear they are the prose equivalent of many of the BBB songs, subject content n' all,) but I forget the name of it. So, I did some research. Here are my findings: I read John Allen is currently performing solo spoken word stuff or occasionally squeezebox, as Johnny Alien in a show he calls GOBSMACKED. Paul Scarpino, (Guitarist) is currently playing bass with the band BIG RHYTHM WINE, a Grateful Dead tribute band. Sal Vega currently drums for ANGRY JOHNNY & THE KILLBILLIES, a kind of Old-Timey/punk/bluesy outfit. Nothing on Ernie Wilson, (bass.) It would be nice if they reformed, I always liked their sound, but I think BBB is over. Too bad.
