Go check out "The Story Of Jamaican Music" Box Set. (If you haven't already.) Trojan puts out those fantastic, reasonably priced reggae box sets. Sets of just ska or roots rock or or dub etc. They must have 15 sets. And Fela Kuti? That's awesome. I didn't think I'd see him listed here. That's cool. "Water. Him no get enemy" I love that guy. I knew Trojan had a shitload of box sets... I just had no idea they had over 40! Check it out. www.trojanrecords.net/articles/upcoming/boxsets.htmFela Kuti was fantastic. I've just now been introduced to his music.

40+. I had no idea they had that many either. They are great sets and cheap too. Like 3-4 cds for about $25-$30.

anthology of american folk music edited by harry smith smithsonian folkways recordings
there's 84 songs, maybe 65 or so artists. the first double disc volume is 'ballads', the second is 'social music', and the third is 'songs'.
some of the artists: buell kazee, chubby parker and his old time banjo, burnett and rutherford, the carolina tar heels, g.b. grayson, the carter family, frank hutchinson, charlie poole and the north carolina ramblers, furry lewis, the bentley boys, andrew and jim baxter, henry thomas, the breaux freres, rev. j.m. gates, alabama sacred harp singers, mississippie john hurt, blind lemon jefferson.
big ass booklet like the ones that come with vinyls. 67 pages. about half is essays and the other half is a little info on each song/artist. includes crap on what other stuff the artist released, what other artists played the song, etc. then there's another smaller booklet that appears to have discographies and shit on the stuff. there's also an index with first lines, quotes, titles, instruments used, etc. that relate to the songs on the CD's. also has a little sentence on what each song is about.
there's probably more i haven't mentioned.
it's awesome.

Not much in the way of Irish music lately.
Dylan - Another Side of Dylan - Nashville Skyline Dylan/Cash bootleg Dave Brubeck's odd time signature CD's from the early 60's Larking - Reckoning Tossers - Communication & Conviction. Just got this one. A couple great songs, but lots of just ok songs.
